Durex Play Heat Lubricant Review

A while ago we bought a bottle of Durex Play Heat lubricant. Since we bought it, stockists have increased and prices have settled down. If we were to buy it today, we'd use LoveHoney as they seem to have the best price along with free delivery. For that reason, I'll use their "sales speech".

The Sales Pitch

Durex Play Heat Lubricant

This is what they had to say about the product:

A fantastic water-based warming personal lubricant which makes lovemaking a more sensual experience for both partners. A quality lube from Durex, a company whose name you've come to know, love and giggle at. Get hot under the covers!

Durex Play personal lubricant is water soluble, non greasy and odourless, and is ideal for use in conjunction with Durex Condoms. It comes in a very handy 50ml pump-action bottle, so no drips!

Durex Play is not a contraceptive and does not contain spermicide.

The Packaging & Product Itself

Durex Play Heat Lubricant - Front

The packaging is very sleek and desirable. Some lubes come in either plain and uninteresting bottles or in explicit bottles that you are embarrassed to look at. Durex have found the perfect balance of style and sophistication together with simplicity.

The Heat bottle comes in red (red is a suggestively warm colour). The front of the packaging doesn't scream the word "LUBE" whilst the back of the packaging contains directions of use.

The lubricant itself is a clear gel-type lubricant. It's not runny, rather it's a reasonably thick silky lube.

The Test

Durex Play Heat Lubricant - Close Up

The main property of this lubricant is warmth. You or your partner applies the lubricant and if your partner blows, it warms up.

That's the theory. Personally, I didn't feel any warmth. It certainly feels nice to use - it's not too thick and not to thin - but I couldn't feel any heating benefits.

From the packaging, I expected more in the way of heat. I expected the warmth similar to that of a vagina. I'm not sure I could feel any heat over and above the natural heat in my penis.

Summary

Who Is It For?

Those with sensitive genitalia to be able to feel the warmth.

The Positives

The Negatives

Is It Worth Buying?

As I couldn't feel any warmth, I'd say not if you are specifically after a warming lube. Perhaps it's this particular batch or perhaps it's me but I wouldn't rave about this product.

As a lubricant, it's one of the better. It feels great to use and great when you've got a gorgeous assistant to use it on you ;-)
