A while back we were sent a couple of toys from renowned sex toy manufacturer Fun Factory (one for him and one for her - to be reviewed soon!). Known for high quality luxury sex toys designed in Germany, Fun factory have recently launched an innovative male masturbator that turned the concept of a masturbator on it's head. I'm talking of the Fun Factory Cobra Libre of course and it has taken the crown of being our 100th review!!!
Back in 2008 we didn't know how far we would get but since then we've been privileged to test and review some great sex toys so does the Fun Factory Cobra Libre have what it takes to be the best sex toy I've ever reviewed?

When the penis enters the toy, a smooth, soft silicone hugs it closely for thrilling stimulation. The Fun Factory Cobra Libre comes in very minimal packaging. The sex toy is held in place with stiff plastic and this is in turn wrapped with a small amount of sturdy cardboard. The cardboard outer opens at either end so the plastic tray can slide out. This then opens up revealing the Cobra Libre in the centre, with a manual on one side and a couple of sachets of lubricant on the other side.
The external packaging looks fairly typical for Fun Factory. It's a blend of product features, the logo and various snippets of information with a huge viewing window to see the toy inside. It could easily be given as a birthday present of Christmas gift to a loved one. Inside, Fun Factory have taken the time to beautifully decorate the cardboard box in the same motor racing theme that seems to be the basis of the Cobra Libre.
The initial reaction was how amazing the toy looks. It has been styled in a very masculine manner and it looks like it has spent hours in a wind tunnel so the curves could be perfected. My test model is red and black and the initial feeling is of curiosity. How does it work, how does it feel, how does it make me orgasm?
The end with the grey circles on the side is where the control pad sits. Three buttons control the intensity and pattern of vibrations whilst the other end is open, covered by a soft silicone roof. This is the end that your penis slides into.
The Cobra Libre feels amazing to use. It's like nothing else I've tried which probably explains the "unique" label! Instead of pumping the shaft up and down like traditional male masturbators such as the Fleshlight, Spider or the TENGA Flip Hole, the Fun Factory Cobra Libre excites the frenulum, the sensitive glans at the head of the penis, which over time is what makes you orgasm. The area that your penis sits in is only around 3.5 inches deep but if you are bigger than this then fear not as it's only the penis head that gets excited by the toy.
Each time I have used this toy I am astounded as to how it manages to produce the most intense orgasms without any pumping of my penis. We both just sit there, the toy and I, and hey presto it happens! Depending upon how horny I am determines how quickly it happens but I seen an orgasm in as little as a couple of minutes right through to around 20 minutes. It's the perfect partner to flicking through some porn, watching an XXX movie or for some essential stress relief!
Fun Factory suggest a little lube helps and have enclosed two sachets of Toy Fluid to help get things going. Personally I didn't find any need for lube though I imagine that is an individual choice.
After lubing up (or not), it's a case of sliding the head of your penis in. For best results, I found sliding it in as far as it goes helps. The motors (two of them) are housed in the black plastic part and so the closer your penis is to the back, the more intense the vibrations will be. The red silicone cover, which looks almost like a set of lips open waiting for your penis, helps transmit the vibrations all around the head of your penis.
The Fun factory Cobra Libre has been ergonomically designed to make it easy to hold and use. It can be used standing up (or sitting down) or lying down so it is up to you what feels best.If you are lying down then using it ith the "wheels" closest to you and the red end pointing away is easiest. If you are sitting or standing up the naturally the red end will be closest to you with the "wheels" pointing away.
A modern touch pad controls the Fun Factory Cobra Libre. There are three buttons, two vertical and one horizontal. The horizontal button is used to turn the sex toy on and off. The vertical buttons are used to cycle through the various speeds and patterns. There are a good range of patterns and vibrations with pleasant surprises along the way. The patterns are great with some unpredictability thrown in for good measure which feels great in the journey to climaxing.
My only criticisms of the touch pad are that it cannot be used underwater and that it is a bit too sensitive at times. Regarding the sensitivity, I have managed on several occasions to brush the power button and find the toy switches off entirely or into a dull vibration mode right when I least wanted it to.
The Cobra Libre design means it is fully waterproof. It uses the classic Click and Charge method using the Fun Factory Magnetic Plug which clips onto the Fun Factory logo on the rear of the toy. Even though the toy can be submerged, the touch pad buttons won't work underwater. This means you are limited to use underwater but on the plus side it does open up new possibilities of using the Cobra Libre in the bath or shower.
In terms of power the Cobra Libre does perform. Two motors help to deliver unique vibration patterns which in their intense mode feels sublime. The patterns range from a dull murmur to an intense throb, and they travel along the penis incredibly well. The battery has an exceptionally long life too, taking around 5-6 hours to charge fully. The lithium polymer battery means it can be charged at any time (no need to completely discharge the battery before charging) and the standby period can be as much as three months!
Clean up is a breeze too, thanks to the waterproof design. Simply rinse and dry. It is one of the easiest sex toys to clean I've tested and because of that I seem to gravitate back to using it regularly. That and the fact it's awesome (excuse the Americanism).
In essence, Fun Factory have revolutionised the way men masturbate. Sure some people will prefer the pumping action but for me this is an innovative way to masturbate. It focuses pleasure on the most sensitive part of the penis and in essence is the male equivalent of the ears on a rabbit vibrator for women tickling the clitoris, her most sensitive spot. An iconic design and a unique feature help make the Fun Factory Cobra Libre a fun, innovative and classic sex toy that is a real must have.
