Just before Christmas Sex Toys sent over a sample of Give Lube Mini Lube Tube Premium Aqua Gel and after a bit of discussion with Give Lube themselves they sent over a sample of their Give Lube Mini Lube Tube Silicone+ for us to play around with and try out.
Give Lube are based in Bristol in the UK and use a German manufacturer to produce two types of lube - Premium Aqua Gel (water based) and Silicone+ (unsurprisingly silicone based!). Being of German origin there's a synonymity with high quality.
Lubricants are supplied in lube tubes with a cap lid that flicks open and closed. Squeeze the tube to release the lube (I wonder if any marketing jobs are going especially with lines like that!). Three sizes are available for the Premium Aqua Gel - mini (30ml), midi (100ml) and maxi (250ml) - and two sizes are available for the Silicone+ lube - mini (30ml) and standard (100ml).
We like our water based lubes thick and long lasting. The formula of the Give Lube Premium Aqua Gel was very thin and got us somewhat worried that the lube was going to be quick drying. Thankfully it wasn't. Despite the baby oil consistency the lube is long lasting and a little goes a long way.
The lube is best suited for masturbation with sex toys or for sexual intercourse though Give Lube reckon it's perfect for vaginal, anal, and oral sex as well as masturbation and massage. We found that during sex it the wet and thin consistency makes sex feel more natural unlike the thicker lubes.
The formula is intriguing with Aloe Vera and Panthenol for extra skin kindness but most remarkably of all there's no fragrance. The lube has been formulated to be colourless and odourless.
Other facts about the lube include that it is pH-optimised, dermatologically tested and CE marked as a medical lubricant for piece of mind.
Overall we found this a great quality water based lube. We were sceptical about the thinness but the long lasting properties outweigh that concern. The most surprising fact was that it is odourless which is a really great quality. It's also great for vaginal, anal, and oral sex so you can go from a blowjob to sex for example without having to swap lubes or use something that's great as an oral lube but not so as a sex lube.
Personally, we would continue to use this as a sex lube or as a masturbation with sex toys lube. It's won us over which is surprising for thick lube fans!
Our experience with silicone lubes is that they tend to be very thin and greasy, generally with a baby oil consistency. Again we went into this review with these preconceptions and again we were blown away by this product.
It has a thin consistency but seems somewhat thicker than the water-based option. It felt more like a gel as it was squeezed from the bottle.
Similarly to the water-based option, this lube is skin friendly, containing Aloe Vera and Vitamin E for added skin care. It's Paraben free, Glycerin free, preservative free, oil free, and dermatologically tested. Again it carries the CE mark as a medical lubricant for peace of mind.
Give Lube say it's great for vaginal, anal and oral sex as well as masturbation and massage. They say it's also fine for use with rubber or latex clothing and that it is suitable for use under water.
We really enjoyed this lube. Personally we don't like it for use during sex as it's not easy to was off your hands (plenty of soap and water gets it off). However, an erotic massage with it is simply divine as the lube helps you. Unlike other lubes that seem to interfere and dry out quickly during massage, the Silicone+ lube withstands movement and coats your genitals with a thin long-lasting film. This makes every movement more intense and is very pleasurable.
Where this lube is really great at sex is in the bathroom. Shower sex can't be beaten and this lube stays put despite the cascading water. Personally, we'd suggest shower sex or erotic massage is best suited for this lube.
Overall, we've been very surprised by both lubes expecting different products entirely. Both lubes are long lasting, well formulated and great at respective tasks. Going forward we'd certainly have a bottle of each on hand as together they have every situation covered.
