I've been looking forward to this review for a very long time. Sexshop 365 were very kind and sent over a Hitachi Magic Wand (aka HV-250R) to review. The Magic Wand is a very famous vibrator and has been around for a very long time. Not many shops continue to sell the Hitachi Magic Wand but should more stock it or should it be retired? I just had to find out...

As you might expect from a product that was first released in the 1970s, the packaging does look a bit dated. The box measures around 35cm / 14 inches which is way longer than I expected. I thought the Magic Wand was quite a compact toy.
The packaging features both men and women using the Magic Wand as a general massager. There's no inclination that this could also be used as a sex toy. In fact, the original use of the Wand was as a medical device rather than as a sex toy.
The Magic Wand is quite innocent looking. It doesn't scream vibrator or sex, making it ideal for houses with prying kids or nosey visitors. To the untrained eye, it's a body massager perfect for relieving aches and tensions.
The actual Wand is around 30cm / 12 inches in length including the bulbed head (around 6cm / 2.5 inches in diameter). It comes with a lengthy 6 foot long power cord - that's right, this baby is mains powered. No fiddly batteries, no need to change the batteries just as you approach an orgasm! There's only one switch on the Magic Wand - a power switch along the side of the handle. It's got two settings (fast and slow) as well as "off".
From the second you switch it on you can understand why this is a sex toy preferred by loads of women worldwide. On it's slow speed it throws out 5,000 vibrations a minute - that's over 83 vibrations every second! And that's slow! Crank it up to full speed and you can enjoy 6,000 a minute or 100 every single second.
The vibrating head (the bulb bit at the end) is quite firm. I wasn't sure quite what I expected but thought it would be more of a soft jelly than a firm rubber.
I switched it to slow and then lightly touched my clitoris. WOW! I was in heaven. I find it easy to orgasm with clitoral stimulation which meant I was screaming within seconds of it touching me.
