New Lovehoney Daytime TV Advert

Lovehoney have been going from strength to strength since it began back in 2002. They are now shipping out around 10,000 orders every week and have recently undergone a brand makeover and a million pound warehouse makeover. Lovehoney have adopted the slogan "the sexual happiness people" and seem to be looking to become a more mainstream brand rather than pigeon-holed as a sex toy retailer. Hey, they now have a logo on their warehouse:

To help with this new image they have commissioned a TV advert. Nothing unusual there except for it is their first. Furthermore, they have managed to get day time approval which is a first in UK history - a sex toy retailer's advert aired alongside daytime telly on E4, Living and MTV.

The advert has been met with mixed reaction with some people believing this should be allowed and those with more old-fashioned views that think this is appalling (guess which camp we sit in?!). The advert is very muted, and avoids mentioning that Lovehoney sells sex toys. Rather, the advert promotes the brand and the philosophy of "the sexual happiness people". After all, they sell sex toys, lingerie, safe sex products (condoms, etc.), lubes and products to help with sexual performance.

We think it's a very tame advert and is certainly not explicit or offensive. Rather it may create a bit of curiosity in those watching so that they head on over to the Lovehoney website to see what it is they mean by "sexual happiness". The criticisms on sites such as AOL Lifestyle would have you believe it's the end of the world.
