Recycle Your Sex Toys

Let's face it, we've all got one or two sex toys we don't use any more. Out of our drawer full, we've got a handful that are always used and the same again that rarely get touched. Now Christmas has been and gone, there may be a few more toys to get rid of in favour of your shiny new sex toys.

Recycle your sex toys

Disposal of electrical sex toys (anything that uses batteries) falls under the scope of the WEEE Regulations (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) and that means you shouldn't throw them in the bin.

Luckily, there are two companies that will recycle your sex toys for you.

LoveHoney

Love Honey run something called Rabbit Amnesty and it's where you exchange your old rabbit vibrator (it desn't have to have been bought there) for a shiny new one at a significantly reduced cost. Not only will Love Honey recycle your old vibrator, they'll offer you a new rabbit vibe for less.

Temptations Direct

Temptations Direct have a more open policy of recycling any sex toy "apart from cock rings" (why? I really don't know!). They will also send you a 10% discount voucher as way of thanks, which you can use to buy more sex toys.

General Tips

With both retailers, make sure you clean the sex toys first. Wrap them in a plastic bag and stick them in an envelope or box (can you recycle one you're about to throw out?). Make sure you include your details so they know who to get in touch with regarding discounts or new toys.

Other Ways You Can Help The Planet

  1. Recycle the cardboard and plastic (where possible) your sex toys are shipped in. There are facilities nowadays at most supermarkets so you can do this without embarrassment at your local Tesco, Asda, Sainsburys, Waitrose....
  2. You should take any old electricals (including sex toys) to your local tip who are now equipped to recycle them.
  3. Some tips will also recycle or correctly dispose of batteries so do this rather than throwing them in the kitchen bin
